Kitchen Porter
Directorate-Commercial and Visitor Services
Reporting to-Head Chef
Hours-10 hrs per week, evening and weekend work will be an ongoing requirement of the role
Main Purpose of the Role
To assist the Head Chef and the kitchen team to achieve the highest standards of food production and customer satisfaction by maintaining the kitchens and restaurant area at the highest cleanliness and sanitary standards whilst working effectively with other colleagues, kitchen and other areas within the organisation.
Main Duties &Responsibilities
- Cleaning and washing of dishes and kitchen equipment during preparation time and whilst on service
- General maintenance and cleaning of the kitchen areas
- Disposing of Bins and cardboard
- Aiding the kitchen brigade in cleaning kitchen equipment such as ovens and fridges
- Responsible for the day to day running of any section given
- Assist the kitchen team in preparation of vegetables if needed
- Assist with daily ordering, informing the senior chef on duty of requirements
Statutory requirements
- Maintain and promote the highest levels of cleanliness and food safety management in the kitchen
- Work with Head Chef to ensure good food safety and cleanliness is achieved within hospitality areas
- Ensure all records are kept up to date; food safety, health and safety, HACCP related documents and staff training
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and any defects reported and or dealt with promptly
Relationships
- Communicate effectively with the Hospitality team to ensure smooth running of all operations
- To foster a positive and proactive environment working with all departments to achieve the best experience possible for theatre goers, visitors, participants, cast and staff
