Norwich Theatre is one of the leading arts organisations in the UK and the largest in the East of England, encompassing the historic Theatre Royal, the creative hub Stage Two, and the intimate mid-scale Playhouse. We present, produce and co-create a vibrant programme of live performance and creative engagement activities to entertain, enrich and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and we work with national and international partners to ensure we bring the very best theatre to our region.  

We are an independent not-for-profit charity with no regular public funding, and rely on a share of ticket sales, one-off grants, fundraising/membership schemes and other commercial activities to deliver the work we do both on stage and in communities. 

About the role

The Business Development and Events Manager (BDEM) leads in developing and maintaining a profitable customer base across all commercial income streams. Working with the Head of Commercial the role will drive our ambitions and is responsible for growth through commercial events, programme advertisement, and will play are large part in supporting the commercial team to develop sales strategies for theatre goers.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Develop a strategic framework to further develop events business across all areas within Norwich Theatre.
  • Broaden our corporate relationships whilst maintaining existing professional relationships working closely with corporate partnership’s role.
  • Be the main point of contact for key stakeholders both internally and externally for commercial relationships.
  • Further develop Norwich Theatre profile through networking and hosted events.
  • To constantly develop and explore areas of commercial growth within Norwich theatre, driving footfall in our commercial areas and spend per head.
  • Work closely with the Head of Commercial in supporting revenue and growth of the business

About you

You will have recent relevant experience in event management, managing a corporate client base and membership scheme. A proven track record of identifying new business opportunities and developing new relationships to promote the organisation. Experience in a sales role within a hospitality environment, ideally experience of working in the charitable sector (not for profit organisation) and have an interest in the arts.
