Hours

37.5 hrs per week (hours are worked to meet the requirements of the role and some early mornings, evenings, weekend and bank holiday working will be required)

Main Purpose of the Role

  • The IT Technician will provide support for the Head of IT and in turn, all employees, and their various systems across the organisation. This will include support for PCs, laptops, printers, photocopiers, software packages, servers, EPOS systems, digital signage, telephone and mobile devices throughout Norwich Theatre Royal, Norwich Playhouse and Stage Two.

Key responsibilities

  • Be the initial point of contact for hardware and software problems or faults. 
  • Provide first- and second-line IT Support for the organisation.
  • Maintain IT Equipment including PCs, laptops, servers, printers, telephones, photocopiers, EPOS equipment and other office equipment with support from the Head of IT.
  • Troubleshoot and fix faults where possible using acquired knowledge or referring to the Head of IT as appropriate
  • Maintain continuity of the network and Wi-Fi services
  • Provide basic IT support to users of presentation equipment in public and office environments
  • Provide basic IT support to visiting company members enabling them to maintain business connections whilst on tour
  • Deputise for the Head of IT on occasion and respond to any emergencies or interruptions to business-critical systems. Troubleshoot and where appropriate, liaise with 3rd party support services to restore the services promptly
  • Uphold security policies and procedures
  • Ensure queries are recorded in the IT Support System and followed to a solution
  • Clean IT equipment and maintain tidy server rooms
  • Install and commission new hardware, with the assistance of the Head of IT where required.
  • Update and maintain all IT office equipment and mobile devices
  • Assist with the maintenance of CCTV, Door Entry and Building Management Systems.
  • Install new software releases across the organisation
  • Organise and maintain accurate electronic records and software libraries
  • Create technical documentation, user guides and knowledge base articles
  • Assist in the management and monitoring of backup systems
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of all onsite and cloud-based systems and applications
  • Pro-actively seek advice and guidance from mentors and line managers to learn the job role
  • Highlight any issues in a pro-active and positive manner and action feedback accordingly
